A Val Vaughan Valentine Day

Since posting the makeup artist contest on this site, the inbox has been flooded with emails from models, makeup artists, photographers, and other parties in the beauty / modeling / entertainment industry. Alleged "professionals" in the Orlando area are notorious for "flaking out" by not following up, not confirming, and/or not showing up without providing notice of cancellation. A great Saturday morning is spent waking up at 06:00, getting ready, driving to the location, and waiting from 09:00 until 10:00 for "professionals" to attend but do not. Until...

Orlando area actress, Val Vaughan, was early and reliable. Not only did she attend the interview early, she had great questions, took notes, sent a follow up email, and was early to the photo shoot. Val was very enthusiastic and fully embraced the character of the photos. She knew what clothing to bring, brought her own items in case the artist's plans had changed, and was willing to expand her character. Also on set was hair stylist Judy Choeun from Palm Coast, who drove to the Orlando area. Judy was early and prepared. She had her own appliances and knew immediately what had to be done with Val's hair for the specific look we were creating - Valentine. Both ladies are young, intelligent, and recommended by this author. We look forward to future collaborations.

Preparations: Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer. The silicone base makes the skin soft and smooth for the foundation to blend well on the skin. Yellow color corrector was used under the eye, and green was used on problem areas. MAC Studio Finish concealer and Studio Fix Fluid in NC 20 were also used. A neutral loose powder was used to set the look.

Eyes: Urban Decay lid primer; shadows - MAC Vanilla, Goldmine, Motif, Paradisco, Basic Red, and Sushi Flower; liner - Teddy. False eyelashes in Black Subtle. Vanilla under the brow bone. Motif in inner corners. Goldmine in the center of lids. Paradisco on outer corners. Basic Red pigment in crease. Sushi Flower to blend the line between Basic Red and the other colors, then a little Motif to tone the brightness. Vanilla in a small dot in the center of the lid.

Cheeks: Style on apples, dusting a little on the temples and across the nose bridge.

Lips: MAC lip conditioner, a nude lip liner and MAC Pink Nouveau (a creamy pale medium bright pink).
